EMSA was invited by out dear fellow European Medical Organisations (EMOs)to attend this joint General Assembly of the three Associations EJD, FEMS and AEMH. EMSA President Jannis Papazoglou (who also represented EMSA at the EMO Presidents Meeting) and by EMSAs National Coordinators for Austria Yasmin Schattner and Carina Binder attended the Conference. The joint conference took place from 8th to 9th May 2015 in the lovely city of Vienna and was followed by the EMO Presidents Meeting on the morning of the 10th.
The Joint GA was a very interesting experience for us students, to see how delegations from three organisations gathered in one place and how it was managed to run such a meeting with three parallel GAs effectively. The event was mainly built around discussions of a resolution on the current public survey of the European Commission about the working time directive which was then adopted as the Vienna Resolution. EMSA will also sign this resolution in the following weeks.
This meeting between the Presidents of the European Medical Organisations takes place twice a year and is usually hosted by one of the EMOs. Topics discussed where the Draft letters to CEN (the EMOs oppose standardisation of plastic surgical procedures), the EMO Conference on Continuous Professional Development (Luxemburg, 18. 2015) update about the TTIP discussions, as well as the followup of the Vienna Declaration on the European Working Time Directive.
