Our European Health Policy Director Felix Machleid represented EMSA at the 4th eHealth Stakeholder Group Meeting which took place on the 24th of October in Brussels, Belgium.
The eHealth Stakeholder Group (eHSG) is a temporary expert group associated with the DG SANTE – the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety. The group assists the European Commission in the preparation of legislative proposals and policy initiatives.
EMSA is an official member of the Stakeholder Group from 2016 – 2018 and has the opportunity to engage in the design, implementation and evaluation of eHealth policy activities which will be presented at higher levels of legislation.
The meeting was focused on the current state of play of activities and future means of action of the DG SANTE and the different working groups within the eHSG. The presentations covered the evaluation of the results from the Public Consultation on Transformation of Health and Care in the Digital Single Market of the European Commission and the introduction to the Digital Health Society (DHS) – a multi-stakeholder initiative. The working groups on ‘Citizens and Data’, ‘New and Shifting Balances’ and on ‘Reimbursement’ outlined their previous work, plans of action and opportunities for engagement.
The meeting was great opportunity to get in contact with all relevant stakeholders and to explore further collaborations for EMSA on eHealth which will followed by the European Health Policy Pillar.
