Our Secretary General Elect Nick Xifaras and Vice President of Capacity Tugce Cetin were present at the IFISO Autumn Meeting which took place in 26-29 October in Belgrade, representing and discussing on behalf of EMSA with other international student organizations.

IFISO is the acronym for Informal Forum of International Student Organizations, a non-political and no-profit forum for various student-run organizations. The platform brings together more than 27 student organizations which represent more than two million students all together in various fields of study. Annual IFISO meetings are normally held twice a year, hosted by local committees of member organizations. Leaders of international student organisations come together during these meetings to share ideas, best practices and network.

At the beginning of the program, each attending organization presented their structure and activities. After the presentations, Decision Making processes on Governance and Management of Events were discussed within the organizations. In the afternoon sessions, the Strategic Planning practices of each organization were discussed and organizations discussed their best practices and shared the difficulties on the matter.

In the working sessions of the second day, topics including Training Development, Human Resources Management, Grants and application procedures, Quality Assurance were debated among the organizations. Then, organizations discussed the future of IFISO and selected the management team for the next meeting which will take place in Brussels in Spring 2018.

The meeting was a great success for EMSA which contributed to many possible ideas for our organization’s improvement, which will be discussed among EEB.
